DPP - the UK's specialist provider of health information

What is DPP?

DPP’s governing vision is life long health information for all. Our wide-range of health information services reach the public throughout every stage of their lives.

DPP SERVICES FOR LIFE LONG HEALTH EDUCATION/INFORMATION

SCHOOLS
DPP’s Making Sense of Health initiative, funded by the Department of Health WiPP project, puts health education into the heart of the national curriculum. The teacher training packages aim to empower students to become informed patients and enable them to make educated health decisions.
PCTS
DPP campaigns provide a one-stop solution for PCT’s to service the health information needs of their patient population. PCTs can pick and choose from a variety of topics which will assist them with their local targets and implementing their public health strategies. PCTs can actively gain local media coverage with DPP campaigns to raise awareness and understanding.
GP PRACTICES
With their emphasis on self-care and improving access by highlighting the appropriate use of services, DPP campaigns service the needs of both primary healthcare services and the patients who use them. Encouraging the public to use health services effectively is a key component of DPP’s campaigns.
PHARMACIES
Pharmacies have an increasingly crucial role as a prime source of health care advice and support. DPP’s extensive range of campaign topics (link to pharmacy section of catalogue) allows pharmacies to provide health information that meets their local requirements. In addition, DPP campaigns promote self-care and encourage active health management.
WORKPLACES
DPP’s Health at Work service enables employees to access health information through their workplace. With a focus on prevention, self care and healthy living, DPP resources help employees and their families to take control of their health.
LOCAL AUTHORITIES and LSPs
Local authorities and Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) can benefit from a joined up approach to local health information. DPP health information resources can be used in a variety of local settings such as care homes, Sure Start schemes and nurseries.
